About the Book

Allow Me Entrance Into Your Heart I was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 8, 1959. I am an only child. I attended twelve years of Catholic School and graduated with Honors in both Business and Academics. I won a PSAL Essay Contest and was "Captain for a Day" at the 72nd Precinct in the Sunset Park area of Brooklyn. I worked as a Corporate Secretary, until I met my husband, Epaminondas (Nondas) Mavrakis. He was born in Crete. We were married on September 28, 1984. Our first son was born in 1985, our second in 1987, and last child in 1991. I am very proud of my little family. Life has not been kind to me. At the age of thirty-three I was diagnosed with 'cancer'. God found it in his heart to let me overcome this battle. A year later I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Though it is not a fatal disease, it is a chronic disease. I will face the challenges of MS each and every day for the rest of my life. Yet, I believe that I am blessed with a gift with my ability to write. I have been able to take the pen and express my inner soul. I believe that when the pen is placed in my hand it is guided by the Angels. I have been writing since I was 10 years old. Though a lot of my poetry is very personal, I believe that the emotions expressed in my work are felt by many others. If through my choice of words, I can reach into your heart, and bring a smile to your face or a tear to your eye or an inspiration to your mind, then I have accomplished my dream. My dream has been to touch each reader. Reach that person's inner needs or fears and help them to overcome that situation. If I somehow allow them to smile and know they are not alone, then "I can smile, too." Read On Patricia A. (Travers) Mavrakis

About the Author

I have been writing poetry for almost 40 years. I have always been drawn to the power that comes through the proper use of words. The impact that words can make in a person's life can either help them through a hard time, or permanently scar them. I have been faced with many trials in my life, and through the pen I have been able to survive them and continue living. The words offer me an escape, a way to look at the problem from the outside. Although I have faced many battles that others wouldn't dare think about, I have happy to say that I have many things to be grateful for. I have a husband, three sons, and the love of my parents (now deceased) through the rough times. I feel that God has touched my life by giving me this talent. I believe that there are times when He or His angels are actually the writer and I am the tool.
