When twenty-four-year-old Brian Wyllie completed his stint in the Peace Corps in 1971, he cleared customs nearly a dozen times in a three-month span on his journey home from Brasil to the United States. In this travelogue, Wyllie narrates his circuitous route through twelve countries in South America and the Caribbean--on a meager budget.

In this true story, Wyllie recounts an array of encounters with interesting characters in interesting places. Employing a go-with-the-flow attitude, he began his journey through exotic territory with only a rough itinerary. He shares a plethora of information including both unique modes of transportation and accommodations, as well as the reasonable cost of travel.

About the Author

Brian D. Wyllie is a former Peace Corps volunteer now living in Florida. He became an avid traveler after the experiences covered in the book and has visited many countries around the world. He continues to explore his subtropical home, often by kayak, and travels the world when possible.
