About the Author

Darrel Abel is a Purdue University Emeritus Professor of English. He was educated at the University of Iowa and the University of Michigan. Besides his career at Purdue he spent a year each at Freiburg University as a Fulbright professor and at the University of Saskatchewan as a visiting professor. He is the author of many articles and several books on American Literature.
