About the Author
In 1935, Carolyn Helm Gates was born in Scooba, Mississippi and later moved with her family to Geiger, Alabama. Carolyn attended The University of Alabama and, after marriage and raising three children, she graduated cum laude and did graduate work at the University of Memphis. She resides in Germantown, Tennessee with her husband, Jim, of 53 years.
