Just as they climbed past the ledge a purple light came from the other side of the chasm and collided with the wall next to them. The energy came so close to the rope that it sent it swinging out of control. Blake tightened his grip on the rope, his legs slipped off the wall and he was hanging on by only his arms. He looked over and saw what was shooting at them. There were two shadow creatures on a lower ledge casting missile spells at them. Then the arrows started coming in from above them. There must be other shadow creatures with bows, firing at us. They were stuck on the rope and completely defenseless, it was as if they were target practice for their enemies. Jack who was the farthest one down dropped the torch and it became pitch black (with the exception of the spells that the shadow creatures shot at them). They could see only after the shadow creature’s spells which gave them light for a small amount of time to gather themselves. The lack of light only added to the chaotic atmosphere. We are trapped. There is no way out! Why didn’t I just speak up, he thought.

About the Book
Step into the unique and magical realm called Vethia. It was the first realm created as a prototype for all other worlds. Each new being was created in Vethia, before they were given a land to rule. Therefore this massive world is filled with many different creatures.
In the frozen northlands of Vethia exists an ancient city called Ralk. Ralk has been savagely attacked by demons whose true motive is unclear. It is now up to the Lords of the city to decide the fate of their kingdom which has been threatened by a species of lizard men. Blake Cathel and his family are blacksmiths of Ralk who are caught up in the oncoming conflict with the lizard men. Blake and his brothers eventually prove their skills to the Lords of Ralk and are asked to join the council of Lords. This story follows their incredible journey from blacksmiths to knights and eventually Lords of the most powerful city in the north.About the Author
Timothy Joseph Welch was born in New York on November, 17, 1989. He grew up in Upstate New York and graduated high school in 2007. He is currently attending college. Vethia was Tim's second attempt at writing a story. He started writing Vethia in 2003 but ended up completely rewriting the story in 2005.
