Stewart reveals his intimate experiences of growing up in inner-city Washington DC, including the pain of domestic violence, substance abuse, and other personal ordeals as a "street soldier." Through his honest prose, he bravely presents a glimpse into the soul of an urban muse who has used grit and determination to survive. Stewart focuses on three major themes in his life: inspirations, reflections upon his heritage as an African American, and love, which he believes to be the most powerful and positive element known to exist.
