In defining "gentleman", Smith does not cater to the definition of a tuxedo-wearing, Ferrari-driving, multilingual man ala James Bond. Instead, he believes a gentleman is defined in terms of behavior that is courteous, mannerly, and poised. Smith believes the average man can easily increase his manners by making simple changes. Excellent manners and thoughtfulness have virtually disappeared in our current culture. But it doesn't take much for a man to restore himself to the good graces of his significant other!
