About the Book
Sir Winston Churchill, throughout his lifetime in war and politics, under circumstances of extreme political dissension, consistently rose to the level of events and overcame adversity. He stood alone in opposition to the Nazi domination of Europe and when war finally came was able to mobilize the entire free world in the struggle against the most evil regime of the 21st century. As a soldier in his youth, and later in life after the disaster of Gallipoli, he served with distinction and valor in war. In government service he readily accepted leadership positions which most men studiously avoided. His indomitable spirit brought him prominence in the most vexatious political questions of the day. Finally when out of office and alone in the political arena, his fearless determination sustained him until his country and its people called him to the pinnacle of his career. His triumph over tyranny and prescient understanding of the world order enabled him to hold together a special relationship with the United States. By demonstrating that free men will stand firm in defense of freedom, his life remains a beacon into the 21st century and a source of inspiration to men everywhere.
