Born and raised in Brooklyn, Ms. Ottley's poetic voice came to life through years of community organizing, film and advocating for change. Ms. Ottley has taught Literacy and Leadership in middle schools and has sparked the minds of young people with 'Creative Expression'. Bitter Rice is shared by those who know the true meaning living life unscripted. Ms. Ottley's poetry sings with neo soul rhythm. Spoken Word. Monologue. Her passionate words ring true with the heart and souls of women everywhere. She has worked as a Consultant and Business Manager before taking her writing to another level. Recently, she has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and several indie films.

About the Author

M. Patrice Ottley is a Research Analyst and Consultant. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Ms. Ottley has worked in the community doing conflict resolution workshops with young people and she is very active in promoting awareness in Domestic Violence. Ms. Ottley resides in New York with her family.
