The six young hooligans in Buckton, Ohio, introduced in the hilariously earthy novel Hostle's Hush, are a bit older but perhaps not much wiser as they obsess about girls. For them, the joy of small-town life is little dimmed by war and a mysterious killer. Being young and dumb is not all bad.

About the Author

John McPeek?s 42-year journalism career began on The Columbus Citizen in Ohio; moved on to Chicago, then Tokyo, and finally to San Diego, where he spent 27 years on the editorial staff of The San Diego Tribune. Following retirement he and his wife, Virginia, spent much of their time sailing Southern California?s coastal waters in their 28-foot Cape Dory sloop.
