About the Book

Ride For Justice is the story of three men from the Bar T Ranch near San Antonio, Texas at the time of the Civil War. The story begins when Tom Calvert, who built the Bar T answers the call of duty and rides to war in Virginia. As the war progresses Jamie Blanchard, a young ranch hand and his wife Peggy, ride with Waul's Texas Legion to Vicksburg in search of Glory. Fate deals harshly with Tom and Jamie and then, after the war, Tom's son Jack, witnesses a brutal post war attack on the Bar T. Jack will rides west in search of justice. He will find the men he is looking for, but not before he experiences love and faces personal dangers even he could not imagine. Each of the men face different challenges, but destiny will put all of them in the cross hairs of Dirk Evans, a merciless adversary with cold steel where his heart should be. Jack's determination to see justice done and his rejection of his own Native American heritage colide in the climatic struggle against Evans. Only if Jack can accept his heritage and draw strength from it will he succeed. His fate and the fate of Cody Raines, the gunfighter who taught him the way of the gun, Bill Chandler, a black Texas Ranger and Cassie Stanton whom Jack has come to love hang in the balance. On its face, Ride For Justice is a Western written in the style of classic western novels, but beneath the surface lies an ageless tale of personal challenge and growth.

About the Author

In 1861, Tom Calvert and his wife, Mary, are raising their thirteen-year-old son Jack on the expansive Bar T Ranch near San Antonio, Texas. They've come to Texas to escape the bigotry of Virginia aristocrats. Duty to a friend compels Tom to answer the call to war, and he rides back to Virginia and an uncertain future. During Tom's six-year absence, Mary and Jack tend to the ranch, praying for a swift end to the War. Their prayer is not shared by Jack's friend, Jamie Blanchard, who, determined to be a hero in his father's eyes, yearns to fight for the Confederate cause. In 1864, at age nineteen, Jamie gives up his job at the Bar T, enlists, and rides for Vicksburg and glory. Tom returns to the Bar T at the end of the war only to be struck down by fate's cruel hand. That blow sends Jack on a ride for justice. In 1867 near the border town of Lookout, Texas, Jack confronts the adversary whose bloody hand has touched the lives of the three men from the Bar T, but not before Jack finds love and faces his own unique heritage. Ride for Justice tells the tale of three men at a time in history in the west that was highlighted by challenge, change, and the grim realities of war.
