About the Book

Francis J. Donovan grew up as a poor Irish American but managed to climb his way up the social ladder, becoming a lawyer and district court judge in Nassau County, New York.

As someone who pulled himself up by his own bootstraps, however, he's never been told how the political game is played. So, when Donovan defies the Republican Party boss of Long Island, Joseph Margiotta, he finds himself fighting just to hold onto his job.

About the Author

Francis J. Donovan graduated with a bachelor's degree from St. John's University, where he went on to earn a law degree. An Army veteran of World War II, he was the deputy county attorney in Nassau County, New York, before serving as a district court judge from 1959 to 1973.
