The Wind Within portrays some African traditions and cultural practices, particularly among the Mende of Sierra Leone, West Africa. It is an intriguing and exciting story told through the eyes of Kenyeh, a girl from this region. It also touches on the brutal rebel war that engulfed Sierra Leone for ten years.

About the Author

Rachel Massaquoi was born and brought up in the rural part of Sierra Leone and later lived and worked in the capital, Freetown, for nearly twenty years. Educated in her native home and later in the UK, she has lived and worked for many years among different cultures in other African countries, Asia, and the US. She is married with three children.
