About the Book
Joseph Davila leaves home to go to a prestigious private university, unaware that this path will lead him to self-discovery. He meets an extraordinary girl who keeps him guessing at each turn, but makes him want more of her with every passing minute. Joe makes new friends and discovers a side of himself that he never knew existed. He is confronted with the Chicano movement that passed him by and is foreign to him as he comes face-to-face with bilingualism, identity, assimilation, fairness, opportunity and leadership.
Along the way he meets a comrade who contests him on all fronts but forges an indestructible friendship. Furthermore, Joe is challenged by a professor whom he respects, but who stretches him more than he wants to be extended.
After a long soul-searching journey, Joe's life is transformed in a way he never expected could happen.
