About the Book

This collection of short stories represents Šinkovec's third book in English. The first one was a collection of poems, What a Waste Love Affairs, and the second, Stardrive, both available from 1stBooks Library™. These romantic stories span 35 years of the life of the fictional hero Jason Likar and his various love entanglements. At the same time they represent his developing view of the basic human relationship. The scenery moves around Europe and the United States. The three Early Seventies stories demonstrate the anguish of a young man who, time and time again, fails in building stable relationships, in spite of being in love with his women-or is he in love with Love itself?

The later stories, especially the early 21st century narratives, which represent the bulk of the book, show that he has grown and risen above the petty issues that so often arise in "love affairs." He is now capable of enjoying life as it is as well as bringing happiness to his numerous lovers. However he often still feels frustrated, because he has not reached the truth: is it just *** or is it Love?

About the Author

Matja? ?inkovec has been writing fiction since the age of 5 or 6. Besides general fiction he has also published poetry, fantasy and science fiction as well as political texts. He has also made a living as a minor translator. He lives with his wife, two sons, and Sox the cat in Brussels, Belgium, where he dabbles in making the world a safer place for all of us, including his Slovenian compatriots.
