About the Book
Twelve-year-old Angie Hall has two dreams: to play major league baseball and to finally meet a local baseball hero she knows only through newspaper clippings and old yearbook photos. Growing up in the shadow of a minor league baseball stadium might seem like an idyllic life for such a girl, but Angie's world is rapidly falling apart. In trouble at school, unwanted by her Little League teammates and at odds with her mother's new boyfriend-things can't get much worse.
But when the man in Angie's newspaper clippings returns to play third base for his hometown team, one of her dreams is suddenly on the verge of coming true. Or is it? During one brief summer, Angie will be forced to confront her mother's past and her own future, as her life is turned upside-down. Will she find the answers she's looking for at The Last Stop Before Home?
