Preface Shadows can be mysterious. This natural occurrence is easily explained as the interruption of a light source by an object. However, some shadows seem to move at will and have a presence. The latter event transpires in the blink of an eye and leaves the witness astonished. Our mind is geared to recording information in well-known environments. We rarely commit to memory the details of an unexplained event that takes place in a flash. Furthermore, if we do catch a glimpse of something unusual, our memory of the incident may be unclear. Only individuals with an extraordinary ability to focus and concentrate can experience our physical world more comprehensibly. Spirits regularly make contact with individuals who are open to their messages. To experience their presence it is helpful if you believe in a world beyond the physical realm. If you have doubts about the existence of a spiritual realm, it may hinder your ability to recognize a communication. When disbelief in such matters is suspended, it becomes easier to hear communications from the other side. In some instances, you might begin to see events you would have otherwise missed. I have experienced contacts with the spiritual world since childhood. My ability to recognize the various methods spirits use to communicate has evolved over time. As I developed a better understanding of their world, I found that it was easier to distinguish a spiritual communication from everyday life occurrences. An important lesson I learned early on was to take a moment to assess my environment. If I suddenly smelled the scent of food or perfume with no origin or a song popped into my mind that I did not know, I knew it might be a sign from someone wanting to communicate.

Madonna Merced is a psychic medium who consciously channels those from the other side of the physical world. She first became aware of her gift in early childhood. She lives in Oregon with her husband Victor where she has a small private practice. It was after the death of her sister and completion of graduate school that she decided to share her gift with others. The encouragement of a loving husband and host of friends helped her decide to write this book. Her ability to communicate with the deceased has evolved over several years and is shared sparingly. It was her deep desire to help others communicate with their loved ones who have passed over to the spiritual side, and her success in doing so, that inspired her to share her gift.
