G.A.T.E. Treasury

About the Book

You might ask: What is G.A.T.E. Treasury? It all started on the first day of the Gifted and Talented Education Program at our school. We discussed how we interacted with other people. Over the next months, we had already drawn symbols of our interactions, went on a field trip to a library, created clay projects, and wrote our own stories. Now we plan to make and publish a book. Many people wrote 1 or 2 page stories. Some people even wrote 45 page stories! We broke up into groups: artists, editors, organizers, and some people floated around and helped in most every group. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun! What you are going to read are stories written and edited by GATE students. I hope you learn something from reading what the students have to say.

G.A.T.E. is a program for gifted and talented kids. When you are young your teacher or district suggests you take a test. If you pass this test you go into G.A.T.E. G.A.T.E. starts in 3rd grade and ends in middle or high school. When you are in G.A.T.E. you are going beyond what you do in class, like learning how you can publish a book. For some students GATE is really hard, and for others it?s really easy. Kids might not think they?re excelling, but if they?re in G.A.T.E. they?re doing pretty darn good!
