About the Author

Derek Alvez is a 20-year veteran journalist with the Staten Island Advance newspaper. The New York City native, who covers sports and has written news features, penned a lifestyle column, ?Man To Man?, for eight years. The CCNY graduate and NYC Deputy Sheriff lives with his wife and daughter.
