About the Book
Meet Cairo Banks, defender of Banks Cay, a rugged little Florida island that a whole bunch of folks are willing to kill for.
He's back home from doing God-knows-what as a diplomatic hit man for the United States Security Service. He's been trying to be a simple shopkeeper, a good husband to his saltwater rock and roller wife, and a good father to two enterprising daughters with his penchant for risk and adventure. And he has enjoyed being the son of his salty-tongued cracker momma who has protected their bucolic little island home with a will stronger than a well rope.
Then somebody goes and shoots Cairo's momma. Pissing off Cairo Banks turns out not to be such a good thing.
"Benson has dreamed up an ensemble of delightfully offbeat characters who populate a place we’d all like to find."
—Saltwater Writer’s Review
"With this debut novel, Benson may be on his way in joining the ranks of the fun Florida writers like Shames, Hiaasen and Corcoran. This charmingly zany story draws readers right into the action."
—Bud Holland
Florida Loafing
"If he’s the dude who gave me twenty bucks to say something good about a book he wrote, then sure, it’s a helluva book. Great read."
—Willard "Junkman" Moody
