About the Book

A Winter's Waltz is the tale of three men from different generations coming of age in a town where the only season is winter. It is the story of each of them trying to escape the isolating cold of their hometown. Joe, the grandfather, leaves school to join the Navy and serve in World War II. His son Fred leaves town during the Vietnam era to attend college. Gramm, the grandson, finds himself living in town after his last year in high school when his father moves the family back North to help take care of his grandmother.

In their stories, these characters become part of a discussion about the struggle to find a unique identity from one generation to the next.
