Having lost her husband two years ago, Diana Petrovich struggles to raise two sons in New York's Greenwich Village. Working as a full-time nurse, Diana has no plans to pursue a romantic relationship. But when sexy Peter Tershakova moves into the building, she finds herself quickly and unexplainably attracted to him.

Although Peter holds down a steady job during the day, he and his best friend, Victor, are also Russian agents, who immigrated to the United States years ago. They now work for a secret organization simply known as, the Agency. He's stunned at how he feels about Diana, especially when it appears his lifestyle might put her in jeopardy.

Peter and Diana's fledgling relationship is barely off the ground when Peter and Victor's assignment to bring in a retiring agent goes awry. Diana is unprepared as she is pulled into a world of espionage and intrigue. In one night, she goes from single working mom, to playing decoy in a bar with an enemy agent. Diana soon finds herself kidnapped and lucky to escape with her life, as she becomes part of a plan to hack into the New York Public Library system. Can Diana and Peter's relationship survive, or will it crumple under the pressure of an international incident?
