From the time he was nine years old, Steven Somers knew he possessed unique and sometimes frightening abilities. When his newfound talents are discovered, he is deemed a "seer"-a person with unusual powers of foresight.

Pain, like a sharp knife pushed between my eyes into my brain. I could probably use a bunch of colorful metaphors here, but that just about sums it up. At first, I remember I just lay there unable to move, frozen in pain. Then the screams came: loud, horrifying screams of agony erupted from my throat. I sprang upright in my bed. Blood poured from my eyes, nose, and ears. I saw my mother reaching for me, then felt her arms wrap around me as the world turned white.
