About the Book

The book contains social economy and green economy development different concepts, theories, ideas; community development different thoughts, citizenry skills development concepts, poverty eradication and good governance approaches, local living economics propositions and their implications in Bangladesh and in Canada with examples. It narrates different concepts, theories, and approaches to green management development practices for sustainable business development. The book has its roots analysing social development different thoughts and services to identify gaps and to solve environmental degradation problems, employment generation, poverty reduction, and to identify sustainable ‘bottom-up’ social development approaches. The discussions of the book explore the process of empowerment of gender development, good governance, and raising community solidarity capital development among disadvantaged people in Bangladesh and Canada. About the Author

Kazi Abdur Rouf is a Professor of the Noble International University, a Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University; an international visiting scholar, School of Education, Indiana University Bloomington, USA and a Research Associate both at the Center for Learning Social Economy and Work (CLSEW), University of Toronto and at the York Center for Asian Research (YCAR), York University. He had been working in Grameen Bank for three decades in Bangladesh. Kazi is researching on green social enterprise development, micro-financing, women and environmental peace, local resource management, NGO managed social safety nets, environmental peace education, NGOs and community development, community gardening, mini cooperatives development in Canada and in Bangladesh. Kazi completed his PhD from the University of Toronto in 2011; Masters in Environmental Studies (MES) and Post-Graduate Diploma in Business and Environment, Schulich Business School, York University in 2008; BA (with distinction) in Women Studies and International Development, York University in 2006; Diploma in Social Work, Project Management Centennial College in 2005; BA (Honors) and MA in Sociology, Chittagong University, Bangladesh, in 1977 and in 1979 respectively. He has post graduate diploma in Applied Science and Nutrition from Dhaka University in 1984. He had worked in different community Food development agencies in several countries like Bangladesh, Philippines, India, Pakistan, UNHCR Afghanistan; UNDP Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho; Good Faith Fund USA, Toronto Social Services, and Red Cross Canada.
