Moving to a new place can be scary. You have to leave people and places that are familiar to you for the unknown. You may even feel you’ll never make another friend—at least none as good as the ones you left behind. Now imagine you move to a place where they speak a different language and they have unfamiliar customs. How would that make you feel? Author E. M. Bradbury’s Little Bird faces that problem. When she and her family move to a new tree near a pond, Little Bird wants nothing more than to make new friends, but the frogs that live in the pond are so different. Discover how Little Bird and the frogs—well, most of them—eventually become friends. It wasn’t always easy, but they kept at it. Little Bird shows that animals that are different can be friends if they’re willing to work hard at it and embrace their similarities. Just because you’re different doesn’t mean you can’t be friends.

About the Author

E. M. Bradbury attended St. Lawrence College and York University. She worked in early-childhood education, among other occupations, and cherishes the memories of the children she helped care for. The best times of her life were spent mothering her children and discovering the remarkable little people they grew to be. She lives in Montreal, Quebec, with her family and pets, and she looks forward to reading this story to her grandchildren.
