About the Author

David Maurice Dye was born February 23, 1969, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to the late Carrie Mae Collier-Dye and the late Maurice Norwood. David is the youngest of three boys, of which his oldest sibling preceded his parents in death. In 1972 at the age of three, David’s life was forever changed after witnessing the tragic death of his mother. Shortly after her death, their father withdrew from their lives for several years. David’s maternal grandmother, the late Willie Mae Willis and late step-grandfather Roosevelt Willis took them in and raised them as their own. David’s grandmother was a strong woman of faith, who ruled with a stern hand, but who also saw greatness in David at an early age. She would often tell him that he was born to lead. As a child, David has a passion for animals and helping people in need. He would often seclude himself into his own fantasy world imagining himself inspiring and saving the world. In high school, David excelled in both basketball and football. However, he wanted more out of life than playing games; he wanted to coach sports in order to properly develop young hearts and minds. David’s natural ability to eloquently express himself drew him into writing poetry in his spare time. One day, a friend suggested that he start posting some of his spoken word material and the rest is His-Story. King David is TrUe to his values and ReAl with the world. His guiding motto is “Live For Humanity or Dye for Things”.
