You will also be educated about the importance of milkweed as the food source to nourish the caterpillars, who transform into the monarch butterflies. In this colorful heartwarming story, a sad little caterpillar who wants to fly, embarks on a magical adventure in a field of milkweed where he finds not only friends, but his wings to fly away on a magical journey.

About the Author

Regina Paul grew up in the Adirondack Mountains. The oldest of five children, she has always been one with nature with a passion for the environment and all creatures great and small. As a child growing up on twelve acres of land, she was fascinated by the fields of milkweed that supported the striped caterpillars, who, after devouring the milkweed, disappeared to the underside of the leaves, only to morph into beautiful works of art as mint-green chrysalides decorated with this amazing beaded gold trim. She spent many hours waiting for the spectacular orange monarchs to emerge and eventually fly away. The first in her family to attend college, she was educated at Syracuse University College of Nursing at the time, graduating in 1984 with a bachelor of science in nursing with honors degree. Her clinical career started at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo in the intensive care unit. When her only son was young, she volunteered as an assistant wildlife rehabilitator, where she pursued her passion of caring for many species of injured and orphaned birds, such as songbirds, hawks, herons, ducks, geese, gulls, turkeys, and owls. This book was written when Regina was in the eighth grade and has been modified to reflect the specific plight of the monarchs. Through the persistent urging of her mother, Linda, to publish it, here it is, four decades later.
