In elementary school, Philip believed in praying to God for advancement in academic performance since academic failure in Ghanaian society assigned inferior station for an individual. However, out of 30 students in a class, Philip found himself ranking in the twenties, sometimes, wondering how he had any position at all. Then something awakened in him during his early high school years. In a class of 150 students in his first year in high school, Philip decided to improve his academic performance by obeying his own conscience and using mental truthfulness instead of praying incessantly to God for help. The result was so powerful that Philip realized he had been mentally dishonest for many years. However, he continued to walk by faith and remained a loyal member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Organization until a crisis in his life rekindled in him the need to be mentally truthful. In the process, he realized that many people are mentally dishonest when it comes to religion. While people refuse to believe in lies, they believe— even to the point of murder— what cannot be proven to be true. And despite all the affectation of Godly knowledge in religious organizations, such knowledge has proven useless to the inventions that have provided security and happiness for earthly life. He then set about to share his experiences, believing that if many people became mentally honest, life on earth will be more enjoyable.

About the Book
During his early years in Ghana, West Africa, Philip had wanted to make a living by drumming and singing; however, his father discouraged him from such an idea because he felt that one could not make a decent living performing art in a developing country. His father insisted that Philip become a medical doctor; this started Philip on a path of faith instead of mental truthfulness. After pursuing science unsuccessfully through faith, Philip decided to be mentally truthful, thereby dropping all science courses and settling for a degree in business management. However, his quest for God led him to become one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. A tragedy in his life opened his eyes to the kindness of human beings in general, discouraging him from associating with any religious indoctrination that characterizes a fellow human being as unbeliever, infidel, gentile, or worldly. By being mentally truthful, Philip discovered that understanding is the real power of his mind, and that judgment is the actual function of his conscience. In The Reasonable View of God, Philip points out that since it is demonstrable that the universe of one life can exist in another life, humanity cannot know the very nature of God any more than a malaria parasite can know the nature of a human being in whom the parasite resides. Therefore, every human being must be mentally truthful in the conceptualization of God—whom the eyes cannot see—and emotionally sympathetic towards fellow human being—whom the eyes can see.
About the Author
Philip Acquah was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa where he received his early education in mostly Christian schools, ending after advanced level studies in physics, chemistry, and biology at Aggrey Memorial Zion School. He migrated to the United States and obtained his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Chicago State University, majoring in entrepreneurship. Currently, he and his wife, Sandra, and their five children live in Chicago where he works as a Systems Administrator. In his book, the Reasonable View of God, Philip sets about to speak truthfully about his findings after ten years of preaching and teaching of the Gospel from door to door as a Jehovah’s Witness. He writes about an early experience which revealed to him that mental truthfulness could accomplish great things while religious indoctrination can be harmful to the human mind.
