About the Book

Hidden in the nooks and crannies of downtown Ottawa is an army of creatures and people. They have entrusted their stories to this book. Their tiny homes have been revealed, and their struggles are real. These Canadians, young and old, are yours to discover either while out and about (using the location info at the top of each page) or while sitting on the comfort of your living room.

About the Author

Liz Parker, has lived in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada most of her life - just like her parents and several generations before them. She spent her formative years wandering the back alleys and main streets of the city, getting to know all the secret places and getting into no trouble at all. She lives near a river and a bike path, and is surrounded by Ottawa's lush greenbelt. She explores her city's urban and natural landscapes as often as possible. Liz watches the world go by on the edges of the neighbourhoods where the new to Canada settle. She make friends with those who share their naan bread with their neighbors and stink up the apartment complex with their lamb kebabs, for better or for worse. She brings her kids to parks where the overheated houses empty at 5pm in the summer, and the fields are full of colours and cloth and laughter. During her lunch breaks she heads into the downtown core and finds little creatures in the world around her. She tells their stories. Oddly enough their stories all have the words from her head imbedded in them. She and her wife, Anne, and their two kids live in Ottawa, except for the occasional escape to warmer climates in the winter.
