The King of True North

Chapter 14 HEAVENLY VISITATION When she awoke she felt much better and decided she would go check on Toady. She was flying towards the pond when suddenly it seemed as if she were flying straight into the sun. It was so bright in front of her she slowed down thinking perhaps Radiance had appeared. Instead, there before her were two ten foot tall angels. One of them had shoulder length hair the color of a newborn fawn, and eyes as green as spring leaves. The other had luminous skin the color of rich chocolate, and shiny raven hair that cascaded down past her waist. Their soft feathered wings were dazzling white, almost the full length of their bodies. Stephanie was hovering in the air, mesmerized by their size and beauty, when suddenly the red-haired angel pointed at Stephanie and said, ”Oh look Miriam, it’s one of the warrior fairies. Isn’t she adorable?” Before Stephanie knew what happened, the black haired angel snatched her out of the air and held her firmly but gently between her thumb and forefinger. She thrust Stephanie closer to the other angels’ face and said, “Look this warrior is but a child! And look at her little helmet and shoes! Isn’t she the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?” Stephanie began kicking and squirming trying to free herself from the angels’ grasp. “Oh look how fierce she is trying to be, Dawn.” And their melodious laughter filled the air. They were examining her like a rare jewel, turning her this way and that, to get a better look at her. Miriam, the dark haired one, shook her head and marveled, “Isn’t it just like the King to pick something so small and helpless to carry out his great purposes!” “Yes,” agreed Dawn. “Anyone else would have chosen Michael the arch angel and his mighty host, experienced in spiritual warfare, or one of the giants, but look who he chose.” and she giggled. Miriam added, “I heard he is using a fat toad and a young dog and a small boy as well.” “Won’t that just infuriate and embarrass the other kingdom when they are defeated by such a group,” Dawn smiled. “Well we better not detain her. She has important work to do. I am so glad we were picked to be the ministering angels for this job.” And she released her grip on Stephanie and gave her a gentle toss into the air. “You go girl!” she said, “We’ll see more of you in the future I’m sure.” Then they vanished.
