One of Shrikrishna Kashyap's last messages to us was that we needed to dissect ourselves. Self-honesty and self-study were paramount among his teachings, to face ourselves exactly as we are and bring every trend of the personality to light. This requires constant watchfulness, mindfulness, dedication and supplication, allowing the Dharma (universal law) to uphold us. Then he said that we did not have the capability of dissecting ourselves. He’d always been a ferocious and great surgeon of the personality. I realized the great compassion behind his sternness and his unfailing love for us to establish ourselves in truth. I would think, “It’s a hard job, but someone’s got to do it.” I added to that thought, “He’s the best and the only one who can.” This was the moment that compassion welled up in me, because I realized that he literally was the only person I’d ever known whose love was so abundant that he insisted upon us finding and embodying the truth in ourselves.
