About the Book

Here are some choice selections from the late Dr. Joseph Parker, former minister of the City Temple, London. He was a contemporary of that prince of preachers C.H. Spurgeon who was at the London Metropolitan Tabernacle. Both preachers reigned from their pulpits like kings on their throne and counted royalty and Prime Ministers regular visitors to their respective congregations.

Parker, like his friend and colleague Spurgeon, would often electrify his congregation with his eloquent utterances reminiscent also of Alexander Whyte at St.George's, Edinburgh. Some of this fiery eloquence can be imagined as one reads these gems of truth based for the most part on the Book of the Acts of the Apostles.

About the Author

Dr. Robert A. Penney spent over twenty years as a Probation Officer in the Birmingham Courts. On early retirement he studied at the Scottish Congregational College and New College, Edinburgh. He pastured Beith Congregational Church, Ayrshire, for a short period before resigning to devote himself to writing and itinerant ministry. He now lives in Kirkintilloch, his home town near Glasgow.
