About the Book
As a staff member of Children International Summer Villages, Manes Pierre taught and shared conflict management skills with children and teachers representing more than fifteen countries. In Spinning the Globe, Pierre brings us into his world of diversity that includes more than twenty years of teaching to all ages. This collection of one hundred and nine poems, short stories and haikus, is inspirational, insightful and shows Pierre's resolve to fight for peace and understanding around the globe. As in the poem "Love Celebration" where Pierre invites the reader to share his or her love in spite of today's world -- letting love overcome all obstacles or in the poem "The Immorals of Our World" that explores the lack of integrity of the world leaders of today. In the short story "The Agony" Pierre explores many of the ideals of the people of America and makes an appeal to the Commander-in-Chief to find closure with many of issues that have been brought forward in recent years.
With true grit, amazing clarity and self-inflection, Pierre shows all of us in Spinning the Globe that hope remains strong in the world today.
