About the Book

Alexandra was a very tall lady who lived alone on a mountain above Lake Tahoe doing hand crafts for a living. She had been told many times that she was much too tall for loving and so kept away from society except once every 3 months to take her crafts to her friends who sold them. She saved the life of a man that had amnesia. They fell in love but Alexandra gave him Sandra, her Papa’s name for her, as Papa loved her. Not the one on her mailbox where he had been dumped. That way he wouldn’t be back after he left. She wanted no embarrassing repeat visits. John Weaver III was tired of society and was about to build his home, the Aerie, on a mountain above Lake Tahoe. As he was driving up to oversee the building of his log home, he stopped to help a pregnant woman changing a flat tire. It was a setup and he was knocked out, robbed and dumped in front of Alex’s home unconscious in the winter. She and her dogs took him into her home where she saved his life and they fell in love while he was regaining his memory. They were quite close during those four days but Alexandra had those many young years of being told she was only friendship material to make her question his love. So when his memory began returning, she took him to the hospital and disappeared. John then had to find his love, and once he found Sandra, and finally gained peace knowing she loved him and trusted his love, makes for interesting reading.

About the Author

JO HAVENS MOVED TO ALASKA AT AGE 5 AND HAS LIVED THERE FOR OVER 65 YEARS. I was raised on a homestead in Homer and was the youngest of twelve. Farming was the family occupation and I loved it. I left the farm at eighteen and soon met my husband Roger, and five days later we got married. We now have over 54 years of happy life together. My interests while and after we raised our three sons was fire science. I took many fire service courses through the FD and local community college and served on the Cordova Volunteer FD for many years as the dept. secretary and as an EMT 2 and firefighter; as did my husband and three sons. While volunteering in the fire service I wrote and published a statewide fire service newsletter with a circulation of 2700 in Alaska and the lower 48 states. I have an 8th grade education but at 34 took my GED so I could take more college classes. I have written many stories in steno pads for over 40 years and am happy to finally get brave enough to start submitting them for publication. I have one published poem which was Editor’s Choice. (Writer’s Digest.) And one published book, A RARE JEWEL / BLACKBERRY BOWL. We have three sons, (plus my two stepsons), 10 grandkids and 7 great grandkids. My husband and I presently reside in North Pole, Alaska where we retired. I enjoy solitude and quiet while reading for entertainment and education, I would critique the stories I read. So I spend many hours researching for my stories to get them as true as possible after reading romances about Alaska that had a road chase on the Alaska Marine Hwy (a waterway) and another one with a natural pine forest in the mountains near Denali (we have no natural pine forests in central Alaska and few trees at the elevation claimed). This misinformation makes it hard to get involved in the stories. It was during this time that I noticed ways to improve those stories with true facts so I started writing using facts I could find by research for those who read the books as I do. Hoping for locale facts along with the fiction. Jo N Roger is my pen name as my husband Roger has helped tremendously with a word when I needed it, a hug when needed as well as the 4 computers I wore out over the years and time beyond measure for my scribbling and typing. I love you Roger.
