“Who the fuckin’ hell are you?” he asked, as the reflection just stared back at him with no indication or signs of life or emotion. Hastings drifted more into a challenging prose. “Ah! Ah! Wait a moment - do not tell me? I know you.
I have seen your sad and lonely face just recently, I know who you are! You are whatshisface, the poet, no that sculptor fellow, no the writer. No, oops, shhhh!” he slurred, whilst placing a single finger over his lips. “Don’t tell me. I got it, you, you are that Rossetti, Gabdramelli Dante Rossetti, you are a jack of all the artistic trades, them all, the painter, the soldier, the sailor but more importantly, le poet and le artiste… is that not correct?” he said, in his drunken slurred stupor, still pointing at the reflection in the mirror as the opposing image shuffled its position and began moving closer towards the mirror. Then the image smiled and nodded as if to acknowledge his remarks.
Hastings had a huge grin on his face as he recognised the artist who was now fully dominating his reflective life.
“So you are responsible for all this shit, are you? Do you know you are putting me through a living hell, and not just me either, but, me and my gal Dashlene, you and your vile laudanum opium sprees along with your acts of acute drunken-ness, your so called active involvement in unearthly pursuits of the black magic.
Your high and mighty Victorian shodding values. I can’t say I am that impressed, by your antics. Well, can’t say I blame you for actually for getting pissed, but dabbling in the Majick, well, that was bloody stupid, on your part, and your talents as an artiste, damn amazing, absolutely genius, if you ask me. But tell me why all the fuss? What is this shit all about? Why has Darlene been cursed? You tell me that, Mister El Dante,” he asked, in his slurred and very provocative attack on Rossetti, and then he lifted his drink and saluted the figure in the mirror, as it appeared to gaze back at him.
Then the image spoke. “I am, as you say, Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

About the Author
Andrew David Doyle was educated in Dundee, Scotland, prior to joining the ranks of the British Armed Forces where he enjoyed a successful fifteen-year career. He now works in the commercial world of hydrocarbon exploitation for a major operator on global deployment. This is his eighth book.
