MURMURATION
To see the Starlings do their danceAt twilight near winter, a fleeting chance Swirls of shadows, the flock in flight
Its changing form, a wonderful sight
A million wings would synchronize
In whirling motions, they mesmerize
Soaring a long way from their forage
Sensing safety in numbers on a voyage
To hear the Starlings, songbirds too
At dusk near winter, dreams come through
Before hovering near their shadowy roost
They flew a formation with a final boost
Those Starlings, songbirds should never quit
THIS GREAT BATTLE SHIP
From the rubble of The Towers This Great Battle Ship was builtForged from the twisted metal Stained by the blood that spilt
Christened USS New York And so beautiful, it glows
Put to sail the seven seas In the war against terror foes
Who attacked on September 11 And found that, not so smart
For out of that evil tragedy Came this deadly work of art

About the Author
Hartley Atkins hails from Brooklyn, New York. He is a qualified accountant and financial controller who held senior management positions in the private security industry for many years. He is currently the Chairman of Bulwark Guard Services LLC, a private security consultancy. He has been married for over thirty five years, and has two (adult) children. In his leisure time, he doubles as SHYLOCK, the music producer and owner of the Recording Label, Eve's Flair Music, the songwriter, and the writer of award-winning poetry. He has previously published a book, The Lyrics of Shylock, featuring several of his poems and prose.
