Demise There is no forever in an entropic universe, only the rise and fall of the cosmos. Our planet is expendable. Might man live differently knowing the hour of terminus? About the Book
There is a gamut to be run with this collection of poems, a challenge with a few sharp turns and switchbacks. From the playful treatment of the Big Bang and other scientific theories, to the often poignant readouts of the human condition. From two Chihuahuas running free, to the aged writer Trapped in the dusty garret of his mind. There are intrusions into the mind of the poet as well as that of the long distance runner. There is the brutality of the Jackals on the Corner and the tenderness of A 93rd Christmas Eve.
From the rhetorical flourishes of The Orator, to the madness of The Last Evil Man, From Microbe to Consciousness evokes a variety of thoughts and emotions. It might even rekindle some old curiosities, even move us to ask some questions, some whys and what ifs. Maybe confront some of our "certainties."
About the Author
Lou Jones is a former Marine and retired Caterpillar Inc. Business Manager. During his working years Lou authored many articles and white papers for business journals and magazines. He received commendations from the Institute of Management Accountants and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute for International Research for his contributions to business literature. Upon retiring he turned his writing toward the more creative. Lou's poetry reflects his keen interest in the human condition; our behaviors, relationships, beliefs, ideologies, our science; how we view our world and the universe in which we reside. Some of his early attempts at poetry have won awards from the Georgia Poetry Society. This is first book. Lou is a lifelong runner and has completed 25 marathons. He enjoys golf but admits to being mediocre at best. Lou and his wife Toni reside at Reynolds Plantation at Lake Oconee, near Greensboro, Georgia.
