About the Book

Brandon St. Clair is a young San Francisco attorney when his parents die in a car accident. After he finds tickets to a Passion Play in their personal effects, he leaves his life behind and heads with a tour group to the Alpine village of Oberammergau, Germany, to view the present-day performance depicting the final week of the life of Christ. What St. Clair cannot foresee or explain is his mystical mental return to Old Oberammergau, where he is able to observe himself as a boy caught up in seventeenth century cataclysmic events that include the devastating bubonic plague. Equally inexplicable is the fact that several members of his tour group also appear to have counterparts in the mountain hamlet. As bizarre experiences and unexplainable coincidences continue to overshadow St. Clair’s travels, he soon realizes that nothing is beyond the realm of possibility when the catastrophe of the plague is echoed in a near-disaster for the tour group on their return flight home as recompense is finally made. Based on true historical events, Recompense intertwines the past with the present as an attorney traveling to a German village to see an ancient play encounters mystic bonds that link the then with the now.
