About the Book

In 10 years, American public schools will cease to exist as we presently know them; they will only serve the "poorest of the poor" and anyone, with resources, will send their children elsewhere. Hundreds of references and personal insights are provided to substantiate the premise, though the book's primary purpose is to stimulate critical thinking and reflection. A series of thought provoking questions are raised in the last chapter for the reader to answer, a perfect venue for collegial discussion.

About the Author

Dr. Shelton has vast leadership experience: private sector (AT&T manager); public schools (superintendent and principal); higher education(dean and provost) and S-Corp (president). In all instances she led change, especially in terms of technology, increased expectations and improved learning strategies. She?s energetic and funny, runs and bikes daily and reads several books a week, as well as several daily newspapers. She has authored three books and over 40 juried journal articles. Her greatest joy, though, comes from working with graduate students in nurturing their critical thinking and leadership.
