“That’s it! This means war!” He grabbed the hose as she scrambled for the lost sponge and reloaded. “I mean it, Molly. Put...the...sponge...down, and no one gets hurt.”
The neighbors on the west side of the fence were peering over the pickets, wondering what was going on. When she saw Molly in those shorts, Mrs. Forsythe grabbed Mr. Forsythe by the collar and dragged him away to the side door of the garage and into the house. “That’s enough for you, George,” she hissed.
“Ah, and just when things were getting good,” he complained as he headed up the stairs, hoping to watch from the spare bedroom window.
“George, come away from there!” Martha scolded.
“Can’t a man do his crossword puzzle in peace?”
“That’s not a crossword puzzle you’re looking at.”
“He must mean business. He just took off his shirt!” George exclaimed.
“What? Let me see!” Martha pushed him aside.
“Now who’s the busybody?”
“Oh, my,” said Martha, her hand to her throat.
