About the Book

An enthralling story of a Beijing girl growing up during China’s Cultural Revolution that affected her career, her education and her life forever. She faced hardship and unbelievable challenges. Tears, fears, combined with happiness, carried her through life.

June Tang Findlay’s dreams of attending the best college in China were dismantled by Chairman Mao’s sweeping reforms. The Revolution affected her family life, schooling and social life in unimaginable ways. With the collapse of the university system, she enrolled in the Chinese Army at age 16 and led a small administrative team. Her ambition to succeed and passion for new experiences led her from the Army to undergraduate university in Beijing and ultimately to the United States. In an amazing story of sacrifice and determination, June obtained a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and eventually enjoyed a 13 year career with Microsoft Corporation as a senior woman manager. Her story includes many personal challenges, but also the joys of raising her two children in the U.S. and achieving the best of her childhood dreams.
