SPEED OF DEATH CITY LIFE CITY FLASH CITY PEOPLE TALKING CITY TRASH UPTOWN DOWNTOWN SPINNING HEADS SPINNING AROUND WITH TO MUCH TO SEE LIVING IN A SMOG BOUND SKY WHERE COPS STRUT AND HOMELESS PEOPLE CRY STRANGERS PASSING BY HOS AND BROS ON THE SCENE BACKED UP TRAFFIC THAT CAN MAKE YOU SCREAM PEOPLE CRUSHED IN A MINDLESS RACE NOT ONE INCH OF PERSONNEL SPACE DRAGGING SOCIETIES CHAIN PLAYING A MINDLESS GAME EVRYDAY DAY THE SAME A HOPELESS SEARCH FOR LOVE AND PEACE OR A PLACE TO HIDE AT LEAST A PLACE TO BE ALONE A DARKENED HOLE TO CALL THIER OWN SAFE FROM THE SCREAMS OF FEAR THAT FILL THE NIGHT WITH THE SWEET SMELL OF GANJA BUD DRIFTING ACROSS TO MANY STREETS THAT RUN WITH BLOOD OF THE ONES WHO LOST THE FIGHT FOR LIFE SOULS SUCKED OUT BY A HOT CRACK PIPE CRASHING IN MID FLIGHT PSYCHOTIC SCHEMES BOUND BY INFINITE CHOAS TO PERSONNEL OBLIVION IN A RAMPAGE AGAINST SANITY AS THE WORLD CRUMBLES IN ITS GREED AND INDIFFERANCE TO HUMAN NEED AND DIGNITY PERIOD

About the Book
From the complex, colorful, and sometimes harsh world of New Orleans comes a collection of poetry centered on life in all its facets. Irish, tough, and eloquent, poet Alton channels his experiences growing up the Big Easy’s St. Thomas Projects into hard-hitting, honest verse. Alton’s poetry encompasses us all—parents, siblings, friends, and even strangers. While greed, hate, anger, death, and sadness are part of the natural order of nature, Alton also believes love and kindness, peace and life, and all the good and bad things that co-exist in our world are also natural. About the Author
Alton was born in 1951 in the Irish Channel area of New Orleans. He began writing poetry at the age of fifty-seven.
