About the Book
G. Clifford Noble grew up a poor country boy in a Massachusetts riddled by the after shocks of the American Civil War. He was born with an entrepreneurial spirit, already bursting with ideas by the age of twelve. Dedicated to his religious faith and driven to succeed, he graduated from Harvard with distinction and moved to New York City in the fall of 1886. There, he garnered his first job in the publishing business, working as a clerk at a small wholesale and retail bookstore. His passion for the industry was ignited, and his amazing business sense propelled him to continued success. He established two book companies, Barnes & Noble and Noble & Noble, unaware of immense future achievement. The Noble Legacy, penned by Noble’s granddaughter, Betty Noble Turner, is a touching tribute to the man who revolutionized the book-selling world and left a legacy still enjoyed by bookworms today. This is not merely a historical dissertation but the study of a small town boy done good and a loving depiction of the man who empowered readers everywhere.
