What is unique about the Rising Star designation?

If your manuscript is awarded Rising Star, iUniverse will provide professional support to Rising Star authors from the day of publication. Each Rising Star title is featured in the Rising Star Special Collections section of the Barnes & Noble Web site and presented by a commissioned sales force to national, regional and local booksellers, including Barnes & Noble, Borders and Books-A-Million.

Does the Rising Star designation help get my book placed in bookstores?

Because the Rising Star program offers booksellers industry standard discounts and returnability status, it will make your book more attractive to bookstores. While the Rising Star designation does not guarantee placement within bookstores, it does guarantee that your book is featured in the Rising Star Special Collections section of the Barnes & Noble Web site and the national representation of your book through a national sales force.

How do I qualify for Rising Star?

First, publish your book using the Bookstore Premier Pro or the Premier Pro publishing packages. As part of that package, your book will benefit from a professional Editorial Evaluation - a hallmark of iUniverse. Qualifying authors can earn the Editor's Choice designation.

If you are eligible for Editor's Choice, then you will be invited to participate in a newly developed marketing readiness assessment. You'll summarize your commitment and ability to work with iUniverse to drive book sales. Authors who participate will receive specific recommendations for marketing, and authors who demonstrate their abilities will be awarded Marketer's Choice.

Finally, iUniverse will provide professional design direction to qualifying authors to ensure that the book's packaging meets commercial retail standards. Authors who are willing to respond to our direction will earn Designer's Choice - and then will be invited into the Rising Star program.

How does the appearance of Rising Star titles differ from other titles in the iUniverse bookstore?

A special Rising Star icon will be added to the back cover of your book. Books accepted into this program will also carry the Rising Star icon next to the book title in the iUniverse online bookstore and will be prominently featured in a separate Rising Star section of the bookstore.
