New York, NY (March 28, 2006) - iUniverse, the leader in supported self-publishing, announced today that it has retained 20-year publishing veteran Judy Klein as a subsidiary and foreign rights consultant.
"Judy brings a wealth of knowledge to our operations," said Susan Driscoll, president and CEO of iUniverse. "Her two decades of publishing experience and her intimate knowledge of the industry will help our best authors gain more exposure for their books and give them greater opportunity in the marketplace."
Klein's primary role will be working on subsidiary rights deals for authors in the iUniverse Star Program. The Star Program bridges the gap between promising new authors and traditional publishing by identifying new talent and nurturing them on a path to greater success. In order to be eligible for the program, each title is evaluated based on editorial quality and market potential.
"No other self-publishing company does so much to help talented new authors find their own pathway to publishing success," Klein said. "That is why I am delighted to be working with iUniverse."
Klein spent 12 years with prestigious publishing house Farrar, Straus & Giroux. During her tenure, she served as vice president, director of subsidiary rights, director of paperback publishing and director of audio books. Klein is also the former editor-in-chief of the Literary Guild Book Club and the Booksonline Book Clubs.
