"Beyond the Book" Takes Chicago Writers on a Trip to the Future

Lincoln, Neb. - April 20, 2004 - "Beyond the Book," a conference that focuses on the business of writing, will be held on Monday, May 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. at DePaul University's downtown Loop Campus in Chicago, Ill.

"Beyond the Book" offers insight and information for authors and freelance journalists to seek suitable ways to reach new audiences and markets. iUniverse Star author John D. Moore, author of Confusing Love With Obsession, will be one of the panelists at the conference.

Moore is a Professor of Health Sciences at American Public University System and a state of Illinois Certified Addictions Counselor. At the conference he will discuss his experiences as a best-selling "self-published" author.

"We think author education is very important and we're delighted when our successful authors are invited to share their publishing experiences and perspectives," said Susan Driscoll, iUniverse CEO and President.

Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg, DePaul University's Laura Hartman and poet and biographer Barry Silesky will join Moore on the panel. The purpose of the panel will be to teach authors and journalists alike to seek creative ways of reaching new markets and audiences.

"Our panel will share with Chicago journalists and authors the building blocks of a business plan for the future," notes Christopher Kenneally, Copyright Clearance Center's Director of Author Relations.

The "Beyond the Book" conference is presented by the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), the world's largest licensing agent for text reproduction rights. To learn more about this conference, or to register to attend, visit authors.copyright.com or call 800-982-3887 ext. 2420.
