Author Royalties
iUniverse pays its authors a royalty of 20 percent on print sales and 50 percent on electronic (eBook) sales. For more detailed royalty information, make sure to read the publishing contracts associated with our publishing packages.
Authors who publish via our Premier Pro and Premier packages can opt for 10 percent royalty in exchange for deeper discounts to bookstores who buy their book. For more information about the 10 percent option, visit our Bookseller Discounts page.
Royalties are based on the payments we actually receive from sales of printed or electronic (eBook) copies of your book, less any shipping and handling charges or sales and use taxes. We offer discounts to retail and wholesale customers, so the royalty amount you receive depends upon which type of customer bought your book and any discount they received.
All author purchases are royalty exclusive. The reason for this is that iUniverse offers authors deep discounts when they purchase their own books. These discounts usually exceed the royalty percentage, ranging from 20 percent to 65 percent, depending on the quantity of books purchased. Refer to our Author Discounts page for more information.
Author royalties are paid according to calendar quarters:
- January 1st - March 31st
- April 1st - June 30th
- July 1st - September 30th
- October 1st - December 31st
iUniverse will process your royalty payment in accordance with our publishing contracts, 60 days after the end of each quarter. For example, after the 1st quarter (January - March), we will post your royalty statement and send your payment by May 30th. Direct Deposit Program
If you sign up for our convenient direct deposit option, all the royalties you have earned will be paid directly into your checking account. If you have not yet signed up for direct deposit, and the royalty amount you have earned is less than $25, it will be carried forward and added to the royalties you earn next quarter.
Signing up for the direct deposit option is easy. Simply print the Direct Deposit Form and complete the requested information. Mail the completed form and a voided check back to iUniverse, and your royalties will be automatically deposited to your bank account.
