As with printed books, our publishing contracts grant iUniverse the non-exclusive right to publish the book in electronic form, also known as an eBook. The exact eBook publishing details are included in the most current publishing agreements.

When a customer purchases an eBook, how is it delivered?

eBooks are delivered by download. After the payment has been processed, the buyer is sent to a page and a download immediately begins.

What is an eBook?

An eBook is a completely electronic version of a book. Most people think you need to purchase an expensive piece of hardware to read eBooks. However, eBooks can be read on home computers, laptop computers and even handheld PDAs as PDF (Portable Document Format) files, in addition to specialized eBook readers.

What is the royalty percentage on the sale of eBooks?

The author receives 50% of the net payments received from sales of the eBook. Royalties will not be paid on copies provided free of charge or sold to the author. You will always receive 50% of the net sale when sold. (Therefore, if sold on iUniverse.com at $3.99, you will receive $2.00. If sold in the retail channel at $3.99, the channel discount (varies by partner) will be deducted from the sales price and you will receive 50% of what is leftover.

Where will my eBook be sold?

eBooks will be available through the iUniverse Web site as soon as the eBook production process for your book is completed.

What if I have trouble downloading or reviewing my eBook files?

Due to a recent Adobe upgrades, our digital printer recommends that you download another copy of any eBook purchased before Sept. 15, 2008.  Please ensure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed on your machine. If you need the latest version of Adobe Reader, download it for free here.

Who can submit manuscripts for eBook creation?

eBook submissions are available to both new and existing customers, who submit original manuscripts via the Bookstore Premier Pro, Premier Pro, Premier or Select Publishing Packages.

Will the author receive a discount when they purchase an eBook of their own work?

Yes. Authors receive a 25 percent discount when they purchase their own eBooks. Author purchases are royalty-exclusive.

Are there any requirements for my manuscript to be eligible for iUniverse eBook formatting?

Press Ready Files (PDF) are not eligible for digital distribution in any format other than PDF.  This means that if you supply a PDF file for your interior, your eBook will not be available to read on digital devices, like the Kindle.  However, it will be available in PDF format on the iUniverse bookstore and through many retailers.
