A Woman Adorned

As we begin studying the fruit of the Spirit, we must take time to wrap our thoughts around the dominating fact that the author of Galatians is not speaking of various fruits, but of a single fruit—the fruit of the Spirit. Love, Joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance are but phrases and descriptions of one fruit, which is love itself. Joy can be described as love taking flight as a bird with wings which has been pushed from the nest, realizing the limitless capacity to view more than just the area to which it was formerly confined. Peace is love reserving a moment of flight to take refuge and finding the safe haven under God's wings. Long-suffering is basking in the assurance of enduring love with an unwavering confidence that there is a High Priest Who has suffered, as well, and is compassionate in His thoughts toward His creation. Gentleness broadens the scope of the child of God and is love on the social level. Goodness is love in action as we see others the way God sees us. Faith is a confiding love that persuades us that He Who began His work in us will also complete it unto the day of Jesus Christ. (Phil. 1:6) Meekness is love “washing another's feet” with a willingness to show humility in putting someone else before our own self-interests. Finally, temperance is genuine self-love with a proper balance of personal interests so as to exercise Jesus' command to love our neighbor as our own self. (Mark 12:31) And as we study this together, allow me to encourage you as you grow in that walk! Learning the truths of God's Word is fun! As you allow the Holy Spirit to produce His fruit in your life, may He use you mightily for His glory! The white garment of salvation that we possess was purchased by the precious blood of Jesus and the only stains it should bear are the stains of the blood He shed for us! We can say with glad “Hallelujahs” today and throughout eternity that HE has covered us with the robe of righteousness; and though our sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow! “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” (Rev. 7:14) OUR SALVATION IS COMPLETE! Now it is essential that we “….Adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men.” (Titus 2:10b-11) How did you come to the saving knowledge of Christ? I would love to hear every detail!
