About the Book

Living in the South during the post Depression era, Trudy Burton escapes her abusive parents by finding joy outside the home. Her love for the outdoors labels her a tomboy.

A sequence of tragedies with family and friends causes Trudy to run. Thinking she is cursed, Trudy hops a train to begin a new life. Working her way across several states, Trudy works as a veterinary assistant and a farm hand. She meets someone who helps her realize that her past is always with her.

In a small cabin in the pines, Trudy has a near death experience. Will this cause her to return to her roots or will she continue to run? Join Trudy as this coming-of-age tomboy struggles to find her place in life.

About the Author

Judean W. Etheredge, D.P.C., is counselor-in-charge of Autumn Olive Outreach, a counseling center for women. She has been counseling the Word since 1996. Prior to opening the counseling center, she worked as a social worker. Judean and her husband Richard live in rural south Alabama.
